I often find myself laying awake at night thinking about you, not in a bad I can’t sleep way, just in a thoughtful ‘I wonder’ sort of way.
For example, I wonder what colour hair you will have, what your favourite colour will be, what you’ll aspire to be when you grow up. Basically all of the aspects that make a person an individual. I also find myself thinking of how we will raise you, how we’ll explain puberty and the birds and the bees and all those sorts of things. I usually come up with a plan of sorts but I guarantee I’ll forget it when the time comes. I dream that we will have a wonderfully close relationship and that you’ll be happy to tell me everything, come to me when you’re sad or need advise, anything and everything… a kind of Gilmore girl scenario, I’m sure that will make sense to you one day, at least I hope it does.
Apparently there is 154 days left until we get to meet you, that is if you come exactly when they say you will of course which only happens 15% of the time, or something like that. I reckon it’s probably pretty warm and cosy in there though and a lot of crazy stuff happens out here so I wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to out stay your welcome. This year has been particularly crazy and everyone has gone mad. There’s an Oompa Loompa running America, we have abandoned the EU and bunch of incredible people died and that’s just the start. Maybe I will start including some daily news for you, or weekly, depending on the content, the news has this terrible habit of being depressing. I hope you’re not bothered about rubbish celeb news though because I couldn’t care less about Brangelina’s divorce and whatever else is occuring.
On a lighter note there’s been some excellent movies, you probably know this by now but your daddy really likes movies. Likes is definitely not a word for for describing his passion, alas, It’s very endearing. I imagine you’ll become film buddies and will have an incredible mind with wonderful critical thinking and analysis skills thanks to him. We have started going to see a new film on a Wednesday evening together, on the premis that something good is out that he wants to see. Wednesdays have quickly become one of my favourite days of the week. We went to see Arrival last week, it was excellent, we both cried, daddy is a big softie and it’s adorable. One day you’ll appreciate a man that can cry.
I hope that date night is a tradition that continues long, long, into our life together, if not always. It doesn’t always have to be the movies, it’s just nice to go out and spend time with someone you love. I’m sure I’ll end up going into a lot more detail about love and tradition and things I believe are important, especially in a relationship. The biggest one being respect, including self-respect. Anyway that’s another topic for another time.
I appear to have gone from not knowing what to say to wanting to tell you everything.
You’re currently wriggling up a storm and it’s almost time to get us some lunch. Better go buy some more peanut butter because we’ve demolished the lot.
Love you always
Mummy
